Breville in San Carlos
Breville coffee equipment in San Carlos.
San Carlos homes call me most about steam. The wand hisses but the milk will not texture, or pressure drops halfway through a pitcher. On a Dual Boiler or an Oracle, that is usually a clogged steam tip, a failing steam solenoid, or scale sitting inside the steam boiler where a normal cleaning cycle cannot reach. I clear the tip first, since that is the cheap fix, and only move to the boiler if the tip turns out clean.
The homes I see here run from the flats near Laurel Street to the industrial streets on the east side, where a few live-work spaces keep a Breville going most of the day. These are still household machines to me, the Oracle, Oracle Touch, and Dual Boiler (BES920), not commercial units, and I service them the same way no matter how many cups a household pulls.
The $150 deposit includes pickup, bench diagnosis, and return and is not credited toward repair. Extra bench time is $150 per hour. Diagnostics can take up to a week; most repairs run 3–4 weeks. That is exactly why we recommend preventive maintenance: a maintained machine does not sit in a repair queue for a month.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Steam wand loses pressure mid-pitcher. A steam tip clogged with dried milk and a scaled steam boiler both cut pressure once the wand has been running a few seconds. I clear the tip, check the solenoid, and descale the steam side only if scale is the real cause, rather than replacing parts that are not broken.
- Weak shot pressure on a Dual Boiler. When the shot runs fast and pale, I gauge the group for real brew pressure before opening anything. A tired pump or an OPV bleeding early both show up on the gauge, and I replace only the part the reading points to.
- Descale cycle that will not clear the warning. San Carlos water carries enough hardness that a normal descale sometimes is not enough once scale builds up behind the flow sensor. I run a full descale and check the sensor and solenoid path, and if the warning stays on after that, I test the board itself.
