Breville in Berkeley
Breville coffee equipment in Berkeley.
In Berkeley the call I hear most is weak pressure. The pump groans, the shot dribbles, and the crema goes flat. On a Dual Boiler that usually means the pump is worn or the OPV, the over-pressure valve, has drifted, and sometimes a solenoid is clogged. We put a gauge on the machine and read real pressure instead of guessing.
We pick up machines in Berkeley, diagnose them on the bench, and return them. Pickup and return are included in the deposit.
The $150 deposit includes pickup, bench diagnosis, and return and is not credited toward repair. Extra bench time is $150 per hour. Diagnostics can take up to a week; most repairs run 3–4 weeks. That is exactly why we recommend preventive maintenance: a maintained machine does not sit in a repair queue for a month.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Weak pressure and a loud pump on a Dual Boiler. When the pump gets loud and the shot still runs thin, the vibration pump is worn or the OPV is bleeding pressure early. We gauge the machine at the group, test the pump under load, and reset or replace the OPV. A tired pump on a daily-driver Dual Boiler is common and straightforward to swap.
- Flat crema from an Oracle. Flat, pale crema with a fast shot usually points at low brew pressure or a worn shower screen and gasket letting water pass around the puck. We check pressure first, then inspect the screen, dispersion plate, and group seal. If pressure is fine we look at grind and dose, so you are not paying for the wrong part.
- Descale warning that will not clear. Berkeley water is hard, and a descale light that comes back right after a cycle usually means scale has moved past a simple flush. We run a proper descale, clear the solenoid and flow path, and confirm the sensor resets. If the warning is a fault rather than scale, we test the board so you know the difference.

How does Breville pickup work in Berkeley?
We pick up the machine in Berkeley, diagnose it on the bench, and return it. Pickup and return are included in the deposit, which is not credited toward repair. My Oracle is out of warranty, can you still fix it?
Yes. We are an independent shop, so warranty status does not matter to us. We repair out-of-warranty Oracle and Dual Boiler machines every week. We will tell you honestly if a repair is worth it against the cost of the machine. -
Do you carry Breville parts?
We stock common wear parts like seals, screens, and OPV kits, and we source pumps, elements, and boards as needed. I confirm the exact part during the diagnostic so the quote is real, not a guess. -

We service every Breville espresso model, including the Barista series, Bambino, Oracle, Oracle Touch, and Dual Boiler (BES920). -
