- Steam wand tip corrodes and clogs. Salt air works into the small holes at the steam tip faster near the coast than it does further inland, and the wand starts to spit or lose pressure. We clear the tip and replace it once corrosion has actually pitted the metal.
- Portafilter spout and screws show rust. External fittings take the brunt of the salt air, and screws or the spout can corrode enough to bind or leak. We replace the affected hardware so the portafilter seats and pours cleanly.
- Group head gasket wears faster near the coast. Salt-laden moisture speeds up gasket wear compared to inland use, and a loose or leaking portafilter is often just that seal breaking down early. We replace the gasket so the lock and seal hold again.
