- Dual Boiler runs a few seconds then stops heating. This is the classic thermal-cutout trip. The safety cutout on the boiler opens when it reads too much heat or a bad connection, and the machine shuts the heater down before it reaches brew temperature. We test the cutout, the thermostat, and the element wiring, then replace the failed part rather than the whole assembly when the element itself is still good.
- Weak or no pressure on a Dual Boiler. When a Dual Boiler pours a thin, fast shot with no crema, the pump or the one-way path behind it is usually the problem. We check the vibration pump pressure, the OPV setting, and the solenoid, and we look for a blockage in the group before I decide whether the pump needs replacing.
- Descale warning that will not clear. Pleasant Hill runs on hard Contra Costa water, and scale builds inside the boiler and valves faster than people expect. If the descale light keeps coming back or a cycle stalls, we open the machine, clear the scale from the parts a normal descale cannot reach, and check the flow so the warning stays off.
