La Marzocco in Los Altos Hills
La Marzocco coffee equipment in Los Altos Hills.
Los Altos Hills has no commercial district, so every La Marzocco I've serviced here, Linea Mini or full-size GB5, has been sitting in a home kitchen, not behind a bar.
That doesn't change how I work on it. I check the group's temperature holding, the pump's pressure under load, and how the boiler recovers, the same checks I'd run on a commercial account in Los Altos or Palo Alto next door.
A home setting doesn't make the machine less commercial-grade. The internals on a Linea Mini are close enough to a cafe machine that it deserves the same level of service, not a quicker or cheaper pass because it happens to sit in a house.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Water hardness and filtration tie-in. Homes on well water or heavy filtration in the hills put a different mineral load through a boiler than city water does. I check the water hardness and the filtration setup before I just descale and move on.
- Grouphead temperature stability. Drift in group temperature usually traces to the controller, the element, or scale buildup. I isolate which one it actually is instead of replacing parts in order and hoping one of them fixes it.
- Steam pressure valve check. Steam pressure that runs high or low against the gauge points to the pressurestat or a stuck valve. I test it against a known gauge and calibrate or replace whatever's actually off.
Honest repair timing
A repair queue is easier to avoid than to rush.
We pick up the machine in Los Altos Hills, diagnose it on the bench, and return it. Pickup and return are included, and you get the repair quote after diagnosis.
Diagnostics can take up to a week; most repairs run 3–4 weeks. That is exactly why we recommend preventive maintenance. A maintained machine does not sit in a repair queue for a month.
