Bunn H5X hot water dispenser in Concord: new water inlet valve
Problem: A shop in Concord gets its hot water from a Bunn H5X. It’s the tall stainless dispenser with the digital display, plumbed straight into the water line. It stopped dispensing water the way it should.
Diagnostics: Inside, the H5X is simple. The tank sits up top and the control board in the middle. Water comes in at the bottom, through a brass fitting on a braided line. When the tank needs water, the control opens the inlet valve and line pressure fills it. Our technician tested that valve and found it wasn’t working properly. Every drop that leaves the faucet comes in through that valve first.
Solution: We shut off the power and the water, took the back panel off and removed the old inlet valve. We put in the new valve and hooked the water line and the wiring back up. Then we checked for leaks and ran the dispenser to make sure it pours the way it should.
Result: The H5X is pouring hot water again. If yours stops filling one day, check that the shutoff on its water line is open before you call. If it’s open and the tank still won’t fill, the inlet valve is a common suspect.
