“System empty” and “Water pressure missing” sound similar on a WMF 950 S, but the manual describes them during different operations. Recording what you selected just before the warning helps the technician use the right branch of the fault chart.
This guide uses the WMF 950 S User Manual. The professional WMF code list covers other series; do not borrow their numbered flow errors for a 950 S display.
What these two messages report
On physical PDF page 82, System empty means the flow meter did not detect water during rinsing or dispensing hot water or steam. The instruction is to check that the selected water-supply mode is correct.
On PDF page 83, Water pressure missing means no flow was detected while dispensing coffee. Its checks include the water supply being open and the correct supply mode; the manual then calls for a technician to check the site’s water supply and pressure. The words on the screen do not prove that an internal pump has failed.
Tell us whether your machine normally uses a removable tank or a constant water connection. Have the responsible operator confirm that this matches the normal setup. For Water pressure missing on a connected machine, PDF page 83 offers a temporary workaround: turn off the “constant water connection” setting and operate from the water tank, following the normal tank instructions. Tell the technician that you made that change so the original supply problem can still be investigated.
Tank and tray checks are separate messages
PDF page 82 distinguishes Place the water tank, for a tank that is not installed correctly, from Fill water tank, for low water level. If yours uses a tank, check it through the normal refill procedure and seat it correctly. On a connected machine, check only an accessible supply valve you can identify safely; do not loosen a pressurized fitting.
There is another easily confused message on page 83: Place drip tray. The manual asks for the tray to be correctly installed and the lid on the coffee-grounds container to be seated correctly. Photograph the exact text instead of describing every stop as “no water.”
If Brewer position error appears, page 82 says the brewing-unit gear is not in the correct position. That is a separate fault. Do not try to force the brewer into place while investigating a water message.
When a normal operator check is not enough
If the tank is filled and seated, or the identified supply is open, but the warning returns, book a WMF diagnostic. Include which drink or rinse was running and the normal water source. We can then investigate the supply, configuration and machine rather than order a part from an ambiguous symptom.
Our WMF service is independent. The commercial espresso deposit is $200–$450 by model, confirmed at booking. It pays for pickup, bench diagnosis and return delivery and is not credited to the repair. You receive the repair quote after diagnosis.
