Diagnostics can take up to a week; most repairs run 3-4 weeks. That is exactly why I recommend preventive maintenance: a maintained machine does not sit in a repair queue for a month.
Stairs and sloped drives make a two-handled padded crate worthwhile. I record finish condition, lock the lever, and inspect old boiler fittings and valve packing for heat cycles, scale, and active leakage once the machine reaches the bench.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Piston seals and lever linkage. A stiff or uneven pull can start at the piston cups, return spring, or linkage. I inspect the full lever path so a fresh seal is not asked to hide worn hardware.
- Steam valve and stem packing. A drip at the steam wand may come from the valve seat, stem seals, or old packing. I test it hot and replace the worn sealing parts.
- Sight glass and boiler fittings. Sight-glass seals and heated fittings leave clear mineral tracks when they leak. I pressure-test the boiler and replace only the fittings that fail.

We pick up the machine in Piedmont, diagnose it on our bench, and bring it back. Pickup and return are included. No drop-off counter and no lugging your machine across the bridge.
Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return deposits start at $150. Commercial espresso machines (Nuova Simonelli and similar) are $150–$450 by model. Jura, Miele, and home La Marzocco machines are $175; Olympia Express (Cremina, Maximatic) machines are $250; commercial La Marzocco equipment is $250–$550.
