The Breville Oracle Touch BES990 stops automatic milk texturing at the selected temperature. In manual mode, automatic texturing and automatic shut-off are disabled. If steaming keeps going after you lift the wand and enter manual mode, the machine is following a different control sequence; you must stop it with the Milk button.
Start with the mode, then the jug
For automatic texturing, Breville describes the wand fully lowered and the jug resting on the drip tray. The milk must cover the wand’s seal, while the fill remains below the jug’s spout. The screen shows milk temperature as the cycle runs. Check those details before concluding that the temperature control has failed.
Manual operation starts with the wand lifted. Holding the Milk button for about two seconds selects that mode, and touching the button starts frothing. Touch it again to stop when the milk reaches the temperature you want. Don’t wait for the automatic cutoff in this mode.
After texturing
Wipe the tip and wand with a clean damp cloth. Lowering the wand triggers its purge, so keep the discharge area clear. The manual warns that pressurized steam can remain even with the machine switched off. Switching off is not an invitation to handle the hot tip.
The cleaning chapter also says a partly blocked tip can reduce foam production. It requires the tip to be fastened properly after cleaning to avoid a temperature-sensing error. If the symptom began after tip cleaning, include that timing when asking for help. Don’t dismantle a hot wand to test the idea.
When the automatic cycle is still wrong
If the selected temperature, jug position and automatic mode are correct but the result is still wrong, book a Breville assessment. Tell us whether manual steaming behaves differently, and whether the problem started before or after cleaning.
The Breville repair page explains pickup and bench service.
