Franke SU05 milk cooler: what to do at closing time

The SU05 manual calls for milk to leave the cooler overnight. Its daily cleaning and cold-milk requirements belong in the closing routine.

By

Franke’s SU05 instructions say to keep milk in the cooling unit during operating hours only. At closing, move it to a refrigerator. The SU05 takes already chilled milk at 2–5°C, and both the coffee machine and cooling unit require daily cleaning.

A closing checklist for the SU05

  1. Move the milk to a refrigerator. Choose the storage location before the shift ends so the next person does not assume the SU05 holds milk overnight. Follow the milk’s storage conditions and shelf life.
  2. Handle the container and hose hygienically. Sanitize hands or use single-use gloves before touching the container interior, lid or hose. Place the lid and attached suction hose on a clean surface.
  3. Clean the cooler and its parts. Use warm water and a mild cleaner for the milk container, suction hose, interior chamber, inside of the door and lip seal. Dry them with a clean cloth or leave them to air-dry. Do not use hot air.
  4. Clean the installed coffee system. Follow the coffee machine’s cleaning instructions and use the recommended products. Cleaning the cooler alone does not complete the machine’s milk-system cleaning. Do not use water jets or steam to clean the SU05.
  5. Check the morning supply. Use fresh milk already cooled to 2–5°C. Loading warm milk is outside the starting conditions in this manual. Keep the cooler door open only as long as needed; Franke warns that prolonged opening raises its internal temperature.

If the cooler will be empty for a longer period

The manual gives a separate sequence for extended non-use: switch the empty unit off, allow it to defrost, clean it and leave the door open to prevent mold. This differs from the daily closing routine above.

If the cooler is not maintaining the specified conditions, request a Franke on-site visit. Give both the SU05 accessory name and the connected coffee-machine model. Franke diagnostic pricing depends on the model and is confirmed when booking; repair work is quoted after diagnosis.
